Many people think that money will make them happier and that money will solve all or most of their problems. In fact studies have shown that people suddenly endowed with a large amount of money do not become truly happier people. Againts all expectations, it is rather the opposite.

THE ELEMENTS OF HAPPINESS

So what makes people happy?

Studies have shown that what people really want and need is RESPECT and BELONGING. In other words, people want to be recognised and feel loved. Another fundamental need of people is that of other human beings’ platonic TOUCH.

HUGS play an essential role in a human being’s development. Many studies have shown the complex physiological response to HUGS and the concomitant benefits: Hugs...
  • help fight depression,
  • lower blood pressure,
  • slow down aging,
  • enhance physical and emotional healing and
  • give us the confidence and strength to live our lives.
HUGS MAKE US HAPPIER

WHERE, WHEN AND HOW TO GET HUGGED?

You are probably aware that, for various reasons from legal consequences of misinterpreted touches to the widespread use of electronic devices instead of human nearness, our society offers less and less opportunity for human beings’ touch.

Children may still ask for a hug but adults who are starved of hugs (and there are more and more of them out there) are in a tighter spot.

To complicate matters, studies have also shown that for a hug to be really effective, it had to last over 20 seconds.

So how do we bring back the hugs in our lives?
  • Where? In a safe environment, regulated by a strict code as to avoid any sexual connotations.
  • When? Once a week or every day; for 3 minutes at in blocks of several hours.
  • How? By learning and dancing Argentine Tango.

WHAT HAS ARGENTINE TANGO TO DO WITH HAPPINESS?

Argentine Tango has the power of TRANSFORMING LIVES (I experienced it first hand - Argentine Tango changed my life in more ways that I can say) because ARGENTINE TANGO IS MORE THAN JUST A DANCE.

It has become my mission to bring the gift of Argentine Tango to others and in particular to those who are the most in need of it and the least likely to be exposed to it.

YOU MAY ASK WHAT ARGENTINE TANGO HAS TO DO WITH HAPPINESS, FEELING OF BELONGING AND HUGS?

Let me explain:

The core of the Argentine Tango is the EMBRACE. It separates this dance from any other forms of dancing. The Argentine Tango Embrace is a HUG in it is purest form and without any sexual connotation. (I assume that you may find this statement strange considering that Argentine Tango is known as the ultimate dance of passion and love and yet the hug is pure.)
  • Argentine Tango provides the opportunity for a HUG which LASTS long enough to be POTENT.
  • It creates a SAFE environment to experience a HUG.
  • The embrace is perfomed as part of an activity, a HOBBY.
  • It is mandary and yet PRECISELY REGULATED so that there is no sexual deviation.
  • Once used to it, people can eventually RELAXED in the embrace and enjoy the FULL BENEFIT of it.
If Argentine Tango would only bring the EMBRACE, it would be by itself enough to be worth spreading. But there are many other POSITIVE SIDE EFFECTS of dancing SOCIAL ARGENTINE TANGO:

THE MANY BENEFITS of ARGENTINE TANGO

  • Gets people to take on an activity, a hobby, which makes them move
  • Accessible to most since it is a Low-impact dance and does not require any particular athletic abilities,
  • Improves balance, flexibility and coordination
  • Stimulates one’s cognitive functions
  • Improves one’s mood
  • Builds positive self esteem
  • Gives the feelings of achievement and satisfaction.
  • A great ice breaker which helps shy people to meet other people and find their soul mates. Additionally, Social Argentine Tango takes place in different venues with dozens or hundreds of people sharing the dance floor. The Argentine Tango communities are very welcoming to other dancers (new or old members) and they give one the feeling of BELONGING that one needs so much. Now that you may understand better why it is so important to me to bring Argentine Tango in the lives of others, you may wonder how I plan to do that:
