About Cavikas

Cavikas is a nonprofit startup founded on a radical yet simple truth: everyone deserves the chance to dance — with dignity, connection, and joy.

Rooted in the transformative power of Argentine tango, Cavikas serves communities often left out: amputees, elders, cancer survivors, neurodivergent individuals, people with limited mobility, and those facing emotional or financial hardship. Through trauma-informed, inclusive dance programs, we help people reconnect — with their bodies, with others, and with life.

Our vision is to make Cavikas a nationally and internationally recognized resource — much like AA or NA are for sobriety — but for joy, belonging, and movement. If you believe dance can heal and community can transform, we want to meet you.

The Role

Cavikas is seeking a founding Executive Director to lead us into our next chapter. As the organization’s first full-time leader, you will help build programs, raise critical funds, grow our community, and champion the mission.

Currently a volunteer position, this role has a clear path to becoming a paid position contingent on successful fundraising and organizational growth. It’s a hands-on, hybrid leadership role for someone passionate about the arts, wellness, and social justice — and ready to roll up their sleeves to build something meaningful.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define and implement organizational strategy

  • Develop and oversee programs aligned with Cavikas’ mission and values

  • Manage daily operations to ensure excellence in execution

Fundraising & Development

  • Create and lead a comprehensive fundraising plan (grants, donors, events, campaigns)

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, and sponsors

  • Write and manage grants to support program growth

Program & Community Engagement

  • Design, pilot, and scale tango-based programs for underserved communities

  • Build partnerships with health organizations, senior centers, wellness clinics, and dance studios

  • Represent Cavikas at community events, conferences, and public speaking opportunities

Team & Volunteer Management

  • Recruit and manage volunteers, instructors, and future staff as funding allows

  • Collaborate with board committees and community stakeholders

Marketing & Communications

  • Lead storytelling efforts across social media, email, and web platforms

  • Serve as a visible spokesperson for Cavikas’ mission and movement

Ideal Candidate

You are a visionary builder, empathetic leader, and artful organizer. You can move between strategy and action, and you believe in the healing power of human connection.

You bring:

  • Deep appreciation for the arts (ideally experience in tango, dance therapy, or movement-based healing)

  • Experience launching or managing a nonprofit or community-centered initiative

  • Strong track record in fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement

  • High emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills

  • Collaborative, inclusive leadership style that inspires participation

  • Equity-driven, trauma-informed approach to leadership and program design

Compensation & Commitment

  • Status: Volunteer (10–20 hours/week to start)

  • Future Path: Intended to evolve into a paid Executive Director position with full salary as fundraising milestones are achieved
